Talk on M9 archaeology tonight

An illustrated talk on the archaeology of the M9 Kilcullen to Carlow motorway will take place this evening, 18 November, in Sarsfields GAA Hall.

'Uncovering Hidden Secrets of Past Peoples – the archaeology of the M9 Kilcullen to Carlow Motorway' kicks off at 8.30pm and will be conducted by Noel Dunne, archaeologist with the NRA, who will take those present through the discoveries made while preparing construction of the motorway.

Noel will talk about how they tested the route, what sites were uncovered and how significant they were.

The event is under the auspices of the Newbridge Local History Group, who have invited the South Kildare Active Retired, Heritage and Historical Society (in formation) to attend.

"It will be of especial interest as this is the part of the Excavations that passed through much of their area," says Sean Cleary, a founding member of the KARHHS. "We would like to thank Raphael Ryan for the opportunity to hear this talk."
