The passing of Brian Foley
It is with a great sense of personal sadness that the Diary reports the death of a longtime friend and motoring writer colleague, Brian Foley, of Brannockstown and formerly of Carlow and Dublin.
Husband of his much loved Mary Schwer Foley, who died in 2012, Brian will be sadly missed by their daughter Sinead, grandson Ronan, his brother Joe, and his and Mary's extended family, and many friends. Brian was predeceased by his brother Jack.
A motoring enthusiast with a lifelong passion for motorsport, especially Formula One, he was the founder and publisher of Auto Ireland magazine, and a founding member of the Irish Motoring Writers Association.
He will be reposing at Anderson & Leahy's Funeral Home in Henry St, Newbridge, from 12 noon tomorrow, Tuesday. Removal will take place at 6.30pm to Kilcullen Parish Church, via Two Mile House and Brannockstown, to arrive at the church at 7.30pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am, followed by burial in St Brigid's Cemetery, Kilcullen. May he rest in peace.
