John Martin on 'Sunday Miscellany' this weekend
Kilcullen features yet again on the national media this weekend, writes Brian Byrne.
Our very prolific local writer John Martin will be reading on Sunday Miscellany on RTE Radio 1 his very interesting piece on General Custer's last stand at the famous 'Wild West' Battle of the Little Big Horn and its connection with a place not too far down the road from Kilcullen.
John's story is actually more specific, about one Myles Keogh who fought in that battle, a professional military man from County Carlow whose life is described as 'Three Wars, Two Continents, One Irish Soldier'. Yes, with a name like that, he had to have an Irish background. And John's take on the matter is a quite fascinating one.
Sunday Miscellany isn't too early, but it does tend to be a lie-on morning for a lot of people. Especially if you've been in O'Connell's the night before at the party related to the Pieta House fundraiser of this weekend.
So set the alarm.
