Break-in left 'trail of destruction'
A recent daytime break-in at a rural Kilcullen home left a trail of destruction through the house, as well as the thieves taking items gathered in preparation for a wedding, writes Brian Byrne.
Every room was ransacked by the perpetrators, who also took computer and other expensive equipment. But it was the scale of the wanton damage that dismayed the owners most. The incident happened between 2-6pm, so it was literally daylight robbery.
A description circulated of the criminals involved suggests two or three men in their 20s, driving a Volkswagen Passat car. GPS tracking of their movements afterwards ended at a location in Tallaght, before they 'went off the radar', so to speak.
Unfortunately, it's just one of a series of similar robberies all too common in this area, and underlines the need for all local residents to be vigilant and report anything of even mild suspicion to An Garda.
