Cheques presented to Irish Cancer Society
A cheque for €20,000, the amount raised by Jimmy Aspell and friends since 2011 for the Irish Cancer Society, was symbolically handed over to that organisation last night in The Spout, writes Brian Byrne.
Accepting the cheque, Kevin Dempsey from the ICS said the money provided by people like this can 'make a massive difference' to supporting families with a cancer patient, both in Kildare and nationally.
"Getting this kind of support means we can do much to help, even from as simple a thing as paying an oil bill for a family in that situation," he said.
A cheque for €22,272 was also presented to Kevin later in The Stray Inn, the proceeds from this year's Mac & Norman Vintage Rally.
Pictured at the handover in The Spout are Tom Dignam, proprietor of The Spout; Mick Dillon; Wayne Broughan, Mary Brown, Leah Aspell and her father Jimmy; Noel Lynch; Kevin Dempsey, ICS; and Derek O'Toole.
