Kilcullen GAA gets €100k grant

Two Kilcullen clubs have been awarded grants under the 2014 Sports Capital Grants announced this afternoon, writes Brian Byrne.

They include Kilcullen GAA which has been given €100,052, and Kilcullen AFC which has been awarded €6,355.

Only six clubs in County Kildare received over €100,000 in the scheme, including nearby Two Mile House GAA Club. Clubs in the county received a total of over €1.7m.

Kildare South's FG Deputy Martin Heydon has been working with Kilcullen GAA's Jim Buckley and Martin Murphy to get the grant, which will be used to erect floodlights and carry out necessary drainage works on the club's pitches.

"I am absolutely delighted that they have been awarded such a large amount," Deputy Heydon said this afternoon. "The club is growing, with big plans, and they are very progressive and a brilliant facility for the town."

The Two Mile House club plans to build a new club house.
