AFC FUN RUN

A reminder that Kilcullen AFC is hosting a Fun Run on Sunday, 11 October 2026, starting at 11am from the clubhouse in Kilcullen. 

Participants can choose between a 5K or 10K race. The first 200 registrants for the 5K will receive a bespoke pin, while the first 70 registrants for the 10K will receive a bespoke medal.

Strong support for AFC girls' international trip

Many thanks to the local community who have supported our under-16 girls Kilcullen AFC team in their fundraiser yesterday morning, writes Yvonne Carey Tyrrell. Nearly €1,000 was raised in a bucket collection towards their international tournament in Cambrils this October. 

They are the first juvenile all-girls team in Kilcullen and are also the first girls’ team to represent the club at an international tournament. 

They will play their cup final next Sunday, 23 August, against Maynooth. Any further support is most welcome.

Kilcullen AFC seeks new U16s

Kilcullen AFC’s U16 Premier (born 2011) squad is recruiting new players ahead of the coming season. The club is seeking enthusiastic footballers to strengthen its panel. 

Training is with qualified coaches focused on player development, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game.

Kilcullen AFC call for girls

Kilcullen AFC is seeking new members for its girls' team and is encouraging players born in 2008 and 2009 to get involved.

The club is looking for enthusiastic players, whether they are already playing football or are new to the game. Kilcullen AFC promises a supportive environment where players can develop their skills, build confidence, make friends and enjoy football.

Cardiac screening day at Soccer Club

Kilcullen AFC is hosting a cardiac screening day on Saturday, 27 June 2026, from 9am to 5pm at their premises on the Community Centre campus, R56VY31. The service is open to members of the public.

The event aims to help prevent Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), which claims approximately two young lives per week in Ireland. The screening is open to individuals aged 12 and above, with a fee of €80 per person, though it is free for those with LAYA Health Insurance. 

Booking is available online at www.ameds.ie using the clinic code Kilcullenafc, or directly at this link, and places are limited, so early booking is advised. 

Participants with established cardiac disease should note that this is a screening program, not a substitute for routine cardiac care.

Kilcullen AFC to host Summer Football Camp in July

Kilcullen AFC will host a Summer Football Camp this July, offering children an opportunity to develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Running from July 13 to July 16, 2026, the four-day camp will run from 10am to 3pm and is open to boys and girls aged 5 to 14, with all skill levels welcome.

Participants have the chance to learn from experienced UEFA-qualified coaches while improving their football ability, confidence, and teamwork. 

The cost is €85 per child, with sibling discounts available. Every participant will also receive a free Teaching Tekkers kit.

Kilcullen AFC Girls' Soccer Blitz

Kilcullen AFC is hosting a 7-a-side girls' soccer blitz on Sunday, 15 March. The event is open to players born between 2010 and 2013. 

The registration fee is €100 per team, with a maximum of 10 players per team.

Kilcullen AFC U13s get new kit

Kilcullen AFC Under-13 Whites were presented with team kits by James Nolan from the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund at their clubhouse last evening.

James told the players he was impressed by their dedication after seeing their training and some matches. He encouraged them to keep giving their best effort to their team. 

He also acknowledged the work of the team’s coaches and managers, Brian Hunt, Davie Lee Carroll, Barry Griffith, and Cathal Hunter, who volunteer their time and expertise. 

Brian Hunt introduced each individual to receive their kit.

Presentations to Kilcullen AFC underage girls

Presentations were made last Friday to Kilcullen AFC's first underage girls soccer team to win a trophy, and the club's first underage girls soccer team to compete. 

The awards were handed over by former club player Della Cowper Gray, who was called up for the Shamrock Rovers Women's U19 team for several recent international games, including Sweden, Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal and the USA. 

Della is a 6th-year student at CPC.

Good turnout for AFC Fun Run

More than 280 registered participants took part in this morning's Kilcullen AFC Fun Run, writes Brian Byrne. An unregistered number of children also ran their own 2 km event around the Kilcullen GAA track.

It was a busy run centre at the AFC's premises on the Kilcullen Community Centre campus before the event, all in beautiful autumn sunshine. In addition to groups of people arriving to get their numbers, there were also a range of vendor stalls. Several of the participants spent time warming up on the nearby Scoil Bhride track.

The run was timed by justrunevents, and results can be found on their website.
