Last day of June Fest

Not to suggest that Kilcullen has nothing happening today, but for the last day of June Fest in Newbridge, some of you might like to take part in one or more of the events this morning and afternoon, writes Brian Byrne.

The Warhammer Group fantasy game morning is in Newbridge Library from 10am-12.30pm, while 'Newbridge in Time of War' gets under way in the Riverbank at 11am — it's an illustrated talk with historian James Durney and Paul Cooke.

For the youngsters, there's 'Storytelling with Mother Goose' in the Library from 2pm, with face-painting and other fun for the 5-7 year-olds, with mystery guests.

And for those who like nostalgia, there's a 'Songwalk' from the Town Hall on Main Street, beginning at 2pm, to find out about Newbridge of the 50s/60s when Christy Moore lived there (I remember it well). And Christy himself finishes off the week-long festival in the best of style with a performance along with King Modo in the Patrician Brothers Secondary School at 8pm (I spent a year there myself, in Bro Damian's class).

Enjoy.
