Kilcullen U/12s in Newry
Kilcullen U/12 boys took part in Newry Mitchels tournament yesterday, competing among 48 teams from 16 counties in the tournament, writes Jim Buckley.
Kilcullen were in a 5-team group with Toome from Monaghan, St Josephs Cavan, Dunguib from Antrim, and St Marys of Tyrone. Kilcullen won their four games and went through to a quarter-final against St Pats from Meath, which they won by a point. In the semi we came up against Lavey from Derry who beat us in a great game of football.
They were managed by the Downey brothers, Henry and Seamus. It was a great performance by the lads and we all had a great day. Jake Murphy of Kilcullen was one of eight players nominated for Player of the Tournament.
