Great night at KBC Awards

The KBC Annual Awards night in Fallons Bar Kilcullen on Saturday turned out to be a great night, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.

Mark had his final tasking as Chairperson to present the awards to the following winners, Most Improved Female went to Tara O’Neill, Most Improved Male went to Pat Dempsey, Team of the Year were Men's 1, Best Male went to Dave McClean and Best Female went to Lynsey Walsh, while KBC’s Sportsperson of the Year went to young gun Darren Lee.

The two main awards, Chairperson’s Award and Club person of the year award were also announced and awarded on the night. These awards are the Club highest achievements and recognise the work that the recipients have done for the club throughout the year. This year’s Club Person of the Year went to Oilivier P Valroy KBC’s Match Secretary. Olivier’s job is probably one of the hardest committee positions, as he is responsible for the organisation of all the teams' matches and fixtures. This is not an easy task when you have 15 teams competing in two separate leagues and cup. Well done Oilivier and thank you for all your hard work this year.

This year’s Chairpersons Award went to Clive Cole. Clive was Assistant Treasurer this year, which is another tough and difficult posting. Clive really deserved this award as he was down at the club every Tuesday and Thursday night collecting money and keeping the club books in order, thank you Clive for all your hard work.

Finally the committee would like to thank Mark Phelan and Ronan Murphy for their work this year on the committee, also we would like to welcome Paddy Burke and Dave McClean onto the committee. Also we would like to thank Joe O’Connor for the excellent engraved trophies he provided KBC with this year, Joe proving once more that he is not just a great singer in the Kilcullen Gospel Choir!
