Kilcullen estates victims of Irish Water glitch

Kilcullen estates are victims to a glitch in the Irish Water legislation which is preventing Kildare County Council from taking them in charge, writes Brian Byrne.

The matter affects a number of estates in Kilcullen, including Cnoc na Greine and Hillcrest.

According to a candidate in the upcoming local elections, what has happened is that the Irish Water legislation makes that new authority responsible for all watercourses, drainage and sewer systems, including those in estates. Which prevents local authorities like KCC, under the Planning Acts, from taking estates in charge. More here.
