Kilcullen athlete helps in silver medal

Kilcullen's David Keenan and his two Newbridge AC teammates, pictured above, had great success at the Spar Great Ireland Run on Sunday last which also incorporated the All Ireland National 10k Championships.

The lads, fresh from successfully winning the Senior County Road title over 10k, just seven days before in Leixlip, powered through tough conditions on a very hard, hilly course in Dublin's Phoenix Park to claim the Silver medals, runners up to Sligo AC.

David has had a great start to 2014, winning two individual Leinster indoor silver medals and four County Road race medals (2 gold/2 silver) in total over the past few weeks to add to a host of cross-country titles in late 2013.

The addition of the National Silver medal is a real boost going into the All Ireland Road Relay Championships this weekend in Raheny. The same team of three athletes are confident they can give the bigger, high profile clubs a run for their money and claim another National level podium finish.
