WEATHER

It will be cold today with frost and ice lingering all day in sheltered spots. A dry and bright day with spells of sunshine, though it will turn cloudy later. Afternoon highs of 3 to 5 degrees in light northwesterly or variable winds. Very cold tonight, frost and icy stretches will develop with temperatures falling to between -2 and 0 degrees in light to moderate easterly or variable winds. (Met Éireann.)

DID YOU KNOW?

A scientific study published earlier this year in The Lancet says that vaccines have saved 154 million lives since 1974, 95pc of which were children under five years old. The same estimates showed that vaccines have cut infant mortality by 40 percent globally, and by more than 50 percent in Africa. Death by measles is the most significant win, with almost 94 million lives estimated to have been saved.

Jimmy and friends rock for cancer care

There was a great turnout of both musicians and spectators to enjoy last night's fundraiser in The Spout by Jimmy Aspell in aid of cancer care.
