CPC students pitch for Silicon Valley trip
Transition Year students in CPC are taking part in a two-day workshop on entrepreneurship, organised by Kilcullen Lions and underpinned by Intel Corporation, writes Brian Byrne.
In the 'Ideation' workshop, teams of the students have to come up with a business plan for a particular idea, in this case developing an initiative based around improving students' health.
Before getting down to business, literally, guest speaker James Nolan gave them the background to how he has brought the long-standing family business to a new level, with examples showing how the simplest of ideas can result in innovation, cost saving, and more profits.
The event finishes tomorrow afternoon when each of the teams makes their pitch to a panel of judges, seeking hypothetical funding for their project.
The winning team will go forward to a national competition, from which an overall winning group will get a week in Silicon Valley.
