Community Games results

Kilcullen Community Games recently held their annual Art competition in Scoil Bhride, writes Papillon Rabbitte.

The event was very successful with a high standard of entries across the different age groups. The winners will now represent Kilcullen in the County competition in Newbridge on Sunday 10th February.

The competition was judged by local artist Noel Scullion who presented the Brenda Scullion Memorial Trophy to Leon Cullen, winner of the boys U12 category. Many thanks to Noel for his contribution to the competition and for taking on the difficult task of judging the artwork.

We would also like to thank Maurice O'Mahony for the use of the school facilities and for supporting Community Games over the years.

The winners in the Tiny Tots category were Zoe Gibson and Grace Doyle.

Winners in the Girls U8: 1st Alisha Powell, 2nd Orla Lally, 3rd Caoimhe Strain.

Winners in the Boys U8: 1st Cillian Keogh, 2nd Tom Aspell, 3rd Jack Gibson.

Winners in the Girls U10: 1st Ava Noone, 2nd Ava Cronin, 3rd Hallie Aspell.

Winner in the Boys U10: 1st Jack Redmond.

Winners in the Girls U12: 1st Eabha Devenney, 2nd Sydney Sheridan, 3rd Emily Rooney.

Winners in the Boys U12: 1st Leon Cullen, 2nd Eoin Redmond, 3rd Seamus Gervin.

Winners in the Girls U14: 1st Leanne Clifford, 2nd Kelly Browne, 3rd Sarah Holohan, 4th Jane Magee.

Winners in the Boys U14: 1st Martin Allen, 2nd Aaron Kennedy.

Community Games also held a Handwriting competition on the night and would like to thank Esther Reddy who judged the Handwriting competition. The winners of this competition go through to the County final on 22nd March in Athgarvan Primary School.

Winners in the Girls Handwriting: 1st Erin O'Neill, 2nd Ciara Lally, 3rd Sinead Tynan Moran, Highly commended - Caitlin Kennedy.

Winners in the Boys Handwriting: 1st Cillian Keogh.

The next Community Games event coming up, is the Talent Show this Saturday (9th Feb) starting at 12 noon.
Children can compete in various sections of talent such as recitation, modern dance, Irish dance, singing or music. There is still time to register for this event!

Other events to note:
- Area Swimming competition due to take place on Monday 18th February at 6.30pm in Curragh Swimming Pool.
- Community Games Gymnastics is taking place in Scoil Mhuire, Newbridge on 3rd March (this is a set routine as set out in Community Games rules).
