'Not enough notice' of information event (with Update)
There are no plans to hold further information events in mid-Kildare on the Grid Link project, beyond yesterday’s one which took place in Naas, a spokesperson for Eirgrid told the Diary this morning.
This follows a query from Kilcullen Community Action last night, noting that as far as was known, no organisation in Kilcullen was invited to the event.
The project involves the construction of a new high voltage power line linking Leinster and Munster. As it will likely end in Dunstown, there will be a significant element of the line and its associated pylons being on property close to Kilcullen.
Eirgrid says advertisements were taken out in local papers to let people know about the information event, which was held in Kilashee Hotel yesterday afternoon.
Orla O’Neill of KCA said that hearing about it on KFM on the day wasn’t sufficient notice, and another information event should be held in the Kilcullen area before the public consultation ends on June 8th.
UPDATE: Subsequent to this story, we have received concrete assurances that representatives of the Grid Link project are interested in meeting with Kilcullen people on the issue. More news as it develops.
