Nash in the BAG

Next Monday, April 16, sees Derryman Paddy Nash play BAG, writes Roy Thompson, who organises the events in Mick Murphys of Ballymore.

I met Paddy last October in Kilkenny where he opened for Billy Bragg. In fact he opened the whole Irish tour for him, having quit his day job to take up the offer from Billy of the opening slot. Paddy's previous employer had refused him a week's unpaid leave, so he quit and made the music his day job. That'll do me!
Come out to Mick Murphy's next Monday and check him out—he's a great guy and I think ye'll like what he does. Check out the videos below for a taster.

Paddy was a founding member and chief songwriter of the award winning Folk Rock outfit The Whole T...ribe Sings. He formed The Happy Enchiladas in 2009 and released their debut album in March 2010 to huge critical acclaim. Performances at Glasgowbury, The Foyle Folk Festival and The Carnivale of Colours—to name a few—have seen them gain a reputation for their high energy live performances. Great songs that make you think and then get up on the table and dance.

Since then Paddy and his Happy Enchiladas have played the clubs of Ireland North and South as well as an extensive tour of England playing the legendary Hope & Anchor among others. Their unique blend of Folk-Pop-Punk has left audiences reveling in the rich lyrics and big melodies. Paddy has also enjoyed huge solo success playing the LeftField stage at Glastonbury in 2011.

The Creggan native says being asked to tour with Bragg is among the high points of his musical career to date.
