Elderly woman robbed in Brannockstown

Gardai are investigating an aggravated burglary in Brannockstown last evening, involving a 95-year-old woman, writes Brian Byrne.

Two men knocked on the woman's front door at around 7.30pm and when she opened it they pushed her inside. One held her while the other searched the bedroom. They left, taking her handbag. They also took the panic alarm she had strapped to her wrist.

While she suffered no injury, the victim of the robbery is described as 'shaken' and is staying with relatives, who have asked that local people should be made aware of the incident and to be on their guard.
