Flowers 'not getting recognition' in TT performance
The judging period for the national Tidy Towns Awards could mean that Kilcullen isn't getting adequate recognition for the effort made with the Summer Flowers Project.
That was a view raised at the recent meeting of KCA in a discussion on the project outcome for 2011.
"We're getting the visual kick, but not the marks," JJ Warren said. "I just don't think we're getting the results for the project in the competition."
The meeting heard that the project cast €6,000 this year. Fundraising is ongoing, with good results from part of the Street Collection in the summer, and the Table Quiz. A number of businesses and individuals have also contributed.
"We're still a bit down on paying for it," Noel Clare said. "But there are letters requesting further donations ready to go out."
