Easter Egg Hunt a cracking success

More than 60 children and their associated parents turned out for the recent Sponsored Walk and Easter Egg Hunt organised by Brannoxtown National School, writes Brian Byrne.

The event started at The Stray Inn in Mile Mill and went to the Green Avenue, where the Easter eggs were hidden in trees along its length.

Essentially, there were eggs for all, although a little detective work by adults was required to make sure some of the smallest children got their share.

"It's as much a social occasion as a fundraiser," school Principal Esther Reddy said. "There's really a great support for events like this from the parents of pupils in the school."

The weather also helped, with the sun coming out from behind the hazy clouds before the walk finished.

Punchestown Racecourse sponsored prizes for those who found eggs with a special ribbon attached.
