Kilcullen schools bring home athletics honours

Two national schools in Kilcullen have brought home top honours in a countywide athletics competition for schools.

Scoil Bhride won the cup for Large Schools in the Cumann na mBunscol Cross Country competition, while Brannoxtown NS took the Small Schools category honours.

"It really is great for athletics in Kilcullen," says Brannoxtown NS Principal Esther Reddy.

It should also act as an encouragement for the Community Games involvement, which badly needs more parental volunteers if it is to continue at the level which has brought a number of national golds back to the community over recent years.

On that matter, a meeting of the Kilcullen Community Games group is taking place in Fallons on May 5. If you want your kids to get out into an athletic fresh air, you should be there.
