St Joseph's joins 'gifted awareness' day
St Joseph's NS has joined the 'Schools Hall of Fame' in the National Gifted Awareness Day scheduled for Friday 8 April.
The day is being observed for the first time in conjunction with the EU Talent Day being marked on Saturday 9 April.
The idea came from Hungary, which has had for many years a national day of talent to mark composer and pianist Béla Bartók's birthday. This year, with talent support as the central theme of their presidency of the EU, they have invited the rest of Europe to join them on Saturday 9th April to mark EU Talent Day.
The goal of this event is to promote awareness among teachers of the special needs of Exceptionally Able and Twice Exceptional (2e) children in classrooms across Ireland and to recognise those schools that have already developed policies to help meet the special educational needs of gifted children.
St Joseph’s National School in Halverstown is the smallest in Kilcullen Parish. It is the policy of the school to provide an atmosphere where the children will receive maximum benefit from the education system by being exposed to a broad curriculum and Christian ethos.
