Get behind the new Leinster Rugby Team song
The above is a new song for the Leinster Rugby team with lyrics by Luka Bloom, who recently held an enormously successful 'homecoming' concert in his native Newbridge.
Kilcullen-born Allen Byrne is behind the idea, and has recorded it with some choral friends.
Their intention is to have 40,000 people singing the song at the Heineken Cup Quarter Final Game at the AVIVA Stadium in Dublin on April 9, says Allen, who was one of the founder members of the former Old Kilcullen Rugby Football Club, now Newbridge Rugby Club based in Athgarvan.
"We hope to launch the new song with the really ardent section of Leinster supporters at a Magners League game in the RDS grounds on March 4 against the Llanelli Scarlets from Wales," adds Allen, son of the late Tom and Carmel Byrne of Kilcullen.
"The aim is for Leinster to win that game and for us to win the singing there against a very much smaller number of supporters who in typical Welsh male voice choir style could probably out-sing a crowd at the RDS stadium that could be 20 times the number of Welsh supporters ... sure it'll be all great sport!"
