FG candidate believes earlier election now likely

After a 'politically eventful' week, Fine Gael's general election candidate in Kildare South, Cllr Martin Heydon, is to step up his campaign activities over the next couple of months, as he believes the possibility of a general election in that period 'has now increased'.

"The recent events highlighted again the vulnerable position of the current government," he says in an email to supporters this weekend. "The resumption of Dail activities in just over a week will, I believe, bring further instability."

The candidate will extend his canvassing programme and has asked supporters to help him in their areas.

He will notify existing supporters in advance of his working in each area, but in the meantime anyone wishing to help can register their interest by phoning 087 2349931.
