James wins gold at European Games

Kilcullen's James Nolan won a gold medal in the Golf competition at this week's European Transplant & Dialysis Games, which are being held in Dublin.

James has been involved in transplant athletics and the Irish Kidney Association for many years, being the recipient of a donor kidney many years ago. He is the founder of the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund.

He also reports that there has been very positive feedback amongst the international athletes to last Tuesday's visit by more than a hundred of them to several venues in mid-Kildare, which was organised by Kilcullen volunteers.

They visited the RACE horse-racing academy, the National Stud and the Kildare Village during the course of the day.

Having the Games in Ireland for the first time has stimulated awareness in the benefits of carrying an Organ Donor Card.
