Insurance delayed grant

A request that the new sculpture at the Dun Ailinne Interpretive Park be insured against theft and damage held up the payment of a grant from KELT for the edifice.

A recent Kilcullen Community Action meeting heard that its insurers had declined to underwrite the sculpture. A query as to whether Kildare County Council's insurers might meet the request had not yet been answered.

Noel Clare said that the matter wouldn't cause a serious problem, as the money had been cleared for payment subject to this request. "If it is simply not insurable, it will be paid anyway," he said.

He emphasised that KCA was insured against any third party damage that might be caused in relation to the sculpture.
