Bernard shifts a little
No, it isn't yet another new Chemist shop in Kilcullen, just a temporary relocation of the longest-established. Bernard Berney has moved operations to the former "Patricia's" pending a major redevelopment and extension of his old premises.
He's not yet ready to give a date for the start of the work. "Soon," he suggests. And on the duration? "I have an idea in my head of maybe six months, but sure if it's longer it doesn't matter too much."
The move to the temporary premises -- which has been fitted out in a very contemporary and pleasant way indeed -- has had one unexpected downside.
"Everybody can see me in the back --- there's no walled off back room like in the old place, and I feel that I have to appear to be doing something all the time."
A case of no hiding place? Reckon he'll be talking to the architect of the new premises about making sure some things remain the same ...
