Great 'Gunman' Gala Night
When John Martin, producer of the Kilcullen Drama Group's latest play, 'The Shadow of a Gunman' by Sean O'Casey, arrived at the Gala opening night of the production, he had an armed escort of British soldiers from the era of the play.
He didn't really have to worry so much about his safety. The evening went off with the kind of verve and interactive enjoyment which characterises any Kilcullen event.
To add to the atmosphere, as well as 'Tommies' there were street children singing and playing games like 'Queenie-Aye-Oh, Who has the Ball?', Moore Street traders, and other characters of early 20th century Dublin.
