Council: stuff still to do
Kildare County Council was congratulated and chided in the same breath by Kilcullen Community Action recently.
Speaking at the presentation of the Community Awards chairman Kieran Forde (above with Minister of State Sean Power and Noel Clare) gave credit to the Council for the work they had done on the bridge last year, saying it was the 'big thing' that had happened in terms of the town's appearance.
"I would also like to thank Sam Cole of Westwood Trailers who sponsored the flowers in the baskets on the bridge during the summer," he added. "And to those volunteers who made sure the flowers were watered."
And then came the dig ...
"There is an automatic watering system for the flowers, but there are leaks to be fixed. So I would appeal to the political representatives who are here this evening to persuade the Council to fix the leaks. It would mean that our people wouldn't have to use watering cans."
The political representatives in attendance were Minister of State Sean Power, Jack Wall TD, and Cllr Billy Hillis.
