CPC Class of '82 plans reunion

January 6 2007 could be a wild night in Kilcullen, as the Cross and Passion College Class of 1982 are planning a reunion in The Hideout.

Breda McHale (086 4052147) and Monica Gorman (086 2998146) are working on getting as many of the class as possible to the event, but they still need to find the addresses of about ten of their classmates.

Breda sent the Diary the following note about it.

Hi Brian,

I see looking at yesterday's entry that one of our teachers from '82, Noel Clare, is now A.P. at CPC. Great to see a familiar name!

There were about 50 of us in the class of '82 -- all girls at that stage -- a mix of day and boarders. We couldn't get any official list of names and addresses from the school, unfortunately. I had kept the old Mass book from our pre-Leaving Cert farewell Mass (May '82), sad person that I am, and myself and Monica Gorman put a letter together to send to anyone whose address we knew, either current or, failing that, original.

Then we got in touch with Kay Hartigan through Anne Corrigan and Kay was a great source of girls' addresses, many of whom are still/back living around Kilcullen.

Further afield we have successfully made contact with Debbie Finn in Greece, Hilary Mulvihill and Tema Hughes in London, Claire Murphy in Wexford, and Bobbie Sparrow in Galway, to name but some. We think Celine Martin is in Luxembourg and Anne Kenny is in the USA but haven't tracked down addresses for them yet.

In all we have written to approximately 40 out of 50 and are still trying to get hold of the remainder between now and January 6th to meet up in The Hideout.

It was a memorable year in that it was the year the CPC Musical Society was formed -- we performed 'The Boyfriend' as our inaugural show, after the snow of January '82, and one night the set fell down on top of us ... memories made of such nights!!

From the feedback to date it looks like we have girls doing all sorts to earn a crust/live in 2006; from housewives, mothers, doctors, dentists, horticulturalists, hairdressers, solicitors, development workers, office workers, psychotherapists to racing trainers. A great range!

We hope the word will spread to as many as possible from our old class to come along for a laugh and a drink. All very low key and casual. We have it on good authority people are booking flights as we speak!

Kind regards

Breda McHale
