Fracas at the crossroads
A fracas in Kilcullen in the early hours of this morning brought the Newbridge Garda in force to deal with the situation.
A number of people with were involved in the situation at the Newbridge Road near the traffic lights.
A garda with the 'Paddy Wagon' said they had been asked to come to the scene to 'remove prisoners'. Gardai later said three people had been arrested, and described them as members of the travelling community.
A Citroen Xsara which had been stopped by the gardai had a non-national registration.
The gardai at the scene were doing their utmost to keep things peaceful, but those involved were being very vocal, and physically disruptive, in their annoyance at their actions.
A query about what was happening elicited the information that a 'public order situation had arisen in a public house'.
