Death of a colleague

Your Editor notes with sadness the untimely death of broadcaster and educator Vere Wynne Jones.

We were friends for many years, and we worked together as journalist/newsreaders in the early days of Radio 2 News through the second half of the eighties.

My abiding memory of him is that he was never without a smile, always in great humour even after he became ill a number of years ago.
