Riverbank workshops
The Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge is to host a number of workshops in a season from April to June.
They include Riverbank Rhymers, facilitated by Julie Duane, during which parents and toddlers have fun action rhyming, singing, clapping and beating basic rhythm. These workshops provides both grown-ups and tots opportunities to nurture and support interactive skills in an artistic and creative environment.
Classes are limited to 10 children and the workshops take place on Mondays April 24th –May 29th (excluding May 1st). The time is 1-2pm, and the age group is 3-5 years. €8 per class/€35 per 5-week term.
Creative Hands is an eight-week course which focuses on developing and nurturing the visual arts in drawing, mixed media, sculpture and painting.
Dates are Wednesdays 26 April to 14 June, from 2.30-3.30pm for the 5-7 years children and 3.30–4.30pm for the 7–10 years. €68 per 8 week course. To register for this course, please register with Veronica on Saturday 8th April between 11am and 2pm. Call 045 448333 for further information.
Kildare Youth Theatre (KYT) holds weekly skills-workshops for those beginning acting. These occur on Mondays (7pm to 9pm) in Riverbank and are excellent places to meet new friends; discover how to explore social, personal and political issues using the medium of drama; learn performance techniques such as vocal and physical dexterity; gain confidence; improve decision-making skills and leadership abilities; and generally have fun in a supportive environment. Workshop training costs €75 per half year (Sept – Dec and Jan – July). KYT also host workshops in the National School hall in Suncroft for children aged 6 up to young adults that happen every Wednesday.
Crooked Sixpence is a drama project for people in their 50s and older. Facilitated by Kate Connaughton, Crooked Sixpence will host workshops from 10am to 12pm, every Wednesday, in Riverbank Arts Centre.
If you are over 50 and have an interest in any aspect of theatre, Kate would love to meet you.
In preparation for Bealtaine, the National Festival which celebrates Creativity in Older Age, Crooked Sixpence will become a hive of activity, via mask making, movement and percussion.
Introduction to Papermaking facilitated by Joannie Murphy shows how to recycle different types of paper to produce paper pulp used for making sheets as well as some simple pulp painting and decorative techniques. This two day workshop is ideal for facilitators who are considering offering papermaking in their classes.
