GAA AGM: Tributes to Billy Aspell
The end of an era was marked at the AGM of the Kilcullen GAA Club on 30th January when Club President Billy Aspell announced that he was retiring from active committee involvement.
Billy recalled that he had played a part in the club for over fifty years. Glowing tributes to Billy’s contribution and dedication were paid by both the outgoing Chairman, Christy Howard and the incoming Chairman, Martin Whyte, who commented that Billy had inspired young people over several generations to become involved in Gaelic games.
The warm applause which greeted the tributes was testimony to the esteem and affection in which Billy Aspell is held by the members of Kilcullen G.A.A. Club. During the period of his association with the Club, Billy has held all of the officer appointments and in recent times he was a hard working and diligent Chairman of the Grounds Committee.

Several of the outgoing officers, including the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, indicated that they were not going forward for office. As a result the top table in Kilcullen G.A.A Club has taken on a different look for 2006.
