WEATHER

Rather cloudy to begin today. Gradually brightening up as the day goes on, with sunny spells developing for most this evening. Highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees, in light to moderate northerly breezes.

DID YOU KNOW?

With the advent of the Industrial Revolution in 19th-century Britain, a trade developed as 'knocker-upper', people who were paid by workers to tap on their bedroom windows to wake them in time to go to work. The knocker-uppers used long poles or in some cases pea-shooters to make discreet noises on the upstairs bedroom windows of their clients. In some parts of England, the trade persisted until the 1970s.

PARISH LOTTO

The Kilcullen & Gormanstown Parish Lotto Draw is held at 8pm each Tuesday in the Parish Centre. This is a public event to which all are welcome. There's a prize draw each night for those attending. Details of previous Draws are here.

Rousing finish to holidays

Well, the extended holiday season ended on a rousing note in Bardons last night, with the usual excellent music from Beefy and friends, joined late by a number of guest performers.
