Golfers raise cash for cancer research
A Breast Cancer Golf Classic held recently in Rathsallagh Golf Club raised a total of almost €15,000 for cancer research.
The event was organised by a committee led by Kilcullen businesswoman Nessa Dunlea, herself a victim of cancer, who spoke on the night about her experience with the disease.
Over 30 teams played on the day, which was considered a very good turnout.
A cheque for €12,000 was presented to Dr Denis Evoy of Breast-Check on the night, who accepted it on behalf of the Irish Foundation for Breast Diseases. A further €2,875 was donated to the fund subsequently.
Prizes for the event were donated by La Touche Furnishings, Kilcullen.
Nessa Dunlea said she was very grateful to everyone who supported the 'very worthy cause'.
