School art starts 25th celebration

An art exhibition in Scoil Bhride today is one of the early events to mark the 25th anniversary of the school, which will officially happen in the autumn.

Every pupil in the school contributed a piece, all of which were then framed and made available for sale during the exhibition. In all, there were some 403 contributions.

"It really gave the pupils a sense of involvement in the anniversary year," says school principal Maurice O'Mahoney, pictured above on the right with teacher Eileen Curtin and Fr Andrew O'Sullivan. "And the standard, as can be seen, is high."

The media included watercolours and inks and montages, and each school teacher encouraged his or her own class to come up with a piece.

"There's also been a very positive response from the parents, and they've told me that when they're framed, they really show them off properly."
