Arts grants available

Kildare County Council is offering a number of arts grants and bursaries, for which applications must be made by March 18.

The schemes invite applications from operators of Arts education and training projects, as well as the provision of bursary awards for individual Kildare based artists for the development of their work.

The council can also offer assistance to groups, organisations and schools towards the cost of projects or events that stimulate public interest in and improve arts practice in the county.

Assistance towards the costs of art materials and equipment required for the realisation of arts projects is also available.

Two bursary awards will be also made to artists from all fields, born or living in Co Kildare, to enable them to spend two weeks at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, the artists workplace in Monaghan. Artists will be selected on the basis of their previous achievements and the project they intend to further during their working residence.

Kildare County Council Arts Service also proposes to offer two bursaries for the Drama League of Ireland Summer School in 2005. The bursary will cover course fees, including tuition, single room en-suite accommodation, meals and social programme. The Summer School takes place at the University of Limerick from August 6-13 2005.

Full information and application forms are available from Kildare County Library and Arts Service, Riverbank, Main Street, Newbridge, Co Kildare, tel 045-448322 / 448323. These can be accessed also from Kildare County Council website.
