Kilcullen Toddler Group to resume activities

The Kilcullen Toddler Group will resume on Wednesday next, 26 September, in the Parish Centre, writes Brian Byrne.

The group had not restarted as usual after the summer break some weeks ago, as not enough volunteers were available.

However, organiser Laura Murphy announced on Thursday last that new volunteers had come forward, following an appeal, which will allow the group's resumption. It meets on Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon.

The group was originally set up in the early 1990s.

Storm force winds and heavy rain are forecast for east Leinster. (And here at dawn, there's a red sky, so be warned.)

Dramatic summer at the Carer & Toddler Group.

Kilcullen Community Carer & Toddler Group have teamed up with Drama Dynamics to give 4-8 year-olds a dramatic time this summer, writes Lynn Worrall, and it's all free.

Over the summer Drama Dynamics will come to the Parish Centre while the group is session and take the older children (4-8) for a fun filled hour of acting, puppetry, poetry and more. The provisional dates are July 25, August 1 and 15. The sessions will start at 11am and run for about an hour with juice and snacks afterwards.

This is a great opportunity for carers to continue to attend the Carer & Toddler Group over the summer while the older children are at home. It will give the older children an opportunity to test their interest in drama also. All carers and children are welcome.

All details on our Facebook page (Kilcullen Toddler Group).
See our website for info on the playgroup and here for info on Drama Dynamics. Registration is not required but preference will be given to existing Carer & Toddler Group members and a small donation to the costs is appreciated but not compulsory.

Challenging Behaviours Workshop

A special 2-hour workshop on dealing with challenging behaviour will be given by Siobhan Walsh on 29 November in Kilcullen Parish Centre, writes Lynn Worrall. The objective is to achieve a deeper understanding of children's Challenging Behaviours.

Children with CB are not trying to make life difficult for adults, in actual fact they are trying to show us how difficult life is for them!!

There will also be practical intervention tips to put the new information into practice. The event takes place at 7.30pm.

Siobhan is a Psychotherapist/Parent mentor who trained with Dr Tony Humphreys and her programme was devised by him.

If time permits we will do some role play.

There will be handouts for participants to take away.

There will be a cover charge of €5 per person, limited places. Booking at the Toddler Group on Wednesday next or on our Facebook page, Kilcullen Toddler Group.
