Today is Safer Internet Day

Today is Safer Internet Day, with this year's theme focusing on the risks to young people of artificial intelligence on the web, writes Brian Byrne. An event at the Department of Justice Cybercrime Division will discuss the impact of generative AI on young people.
The day is supported in Ireland by ISPCC Childline, Webwise, Hotline.ie, and the National Parents Council (NPC) Primary, in association with the Irish Safer Internet Centre, providing a range of complementary online safety services. The shared mission is to make the internet a safer and more inclusive place for children and young people.
Initiated by the EU in 2004, Safer Internet Day is now celebrated in more than 160 countries and territories worldwide.
