Dublin Welsh Male Choir for RNLI fundraiser

A performance by the Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir on 29 November will raise funds for the RNLI Cill Dara project, writes Brian Byrne. The concert will be in Christ Church in Celbridge.
The fundraising is a project of the North Kildare RNLI fundraising branch to mark the 200 years of the independent life-saving service. The campaign aims to raise €117,000 for a D-class rigid boat (one pictured below), which these days is the RNLI's workhorse and is responsible for 70pc of rescue work. The boat will be called the Cill Dara and will be based in Wexford. The campaign was launched in February of this year.

Recent fundraising events have included collections in Naas and Athy, a sponsored abseiling of Dwyer's Rock in Glenmalure
Kilcullen's Pat Stafford at the recent RNLI collection in Pettits Supervalu of Athy.

Tickets for the Celbridge concert are €25 and can be booked on Eventbrite. They can also be bought directly from several members of the North Kildare RNLI Branch, including Janella Fitzmaurice – 086 844 2499, and Marion Bagnall – 086 834 2121.
Formed in 1966, the choir sings Welsh songs and hymns, Irish airs, Italian opera excerpts, American spirituals, classical, folk and popular pieces in four-part harmony. The choir has sung in competitions, concerts, and charity events, on television, and has toured Wales, Cornwall, France, Italy, Canada and the USA.
