Walk and talk on origins of the Valley park

The original deeds to the Valley, bought by Kilcullen Community Council in 1973. |
Kilcullen's Valley riverside park is at the heart of the town, yet many of the newer families here are likely unfamiliar with its origins, writes Brian Byrne. A walk and talk on Saturday, 23 August, provides a chance to learn more.
It's a story of vision, creative fundraising, and dedication to a project that many initially thought was crazy.
The event begins at 2.30pm and will be led by Noel Clare, a longstanding Kilcullen community activist and a founding member of Kilcullen Community Action.
A predecessor organisation, Kilcullen Community Council, acquired a previously inaccessible two-acre riverside site in 1973 and carried out its subsequent development.
The talk is a contribution by KCA to National Heritage Week.
