Nearby Heritage Week events


National Heritage Week
begins tomorrow, writes Brian Byrne, with several events planned across the wider Kilcullen area, including the unveiling of the new Cian Meketarian artwork in the Valley at 2.30pm. 
Beacon of Light: Inextinguishable in St Brigid's Cathedral, Kildare, is an exhibition that celebrates St Brigid as a symbol of inspiration, compassion, and hope. It is open from 2.15pm to 5pm. 
A daily canal cruise to the Leinster Aquaduct departs from the Grand Canal Stores in Sallins at 1pm. 
Castledermot Local History Group will host local archaeologist Dr Sharon Greene on a walking tour to explore the town's medieval origins, from 10.30am until noon. 
Guided tours of Harristown House are available daily from 9am to 1pm throughout the week. 
The Curragh Military Story will be told at the Curragh Military Museum daily, starting from noon tomorrow, at 2pm on Sunday, and from 10am for the rest of the week. Booking is essential—please call 045 445342. 
The connections of the De Burgh family with Naas will be highlighted through memorials in St David's Church from 3pm. 
A tour of the Ballitore Quaker Burial Ground will be conducted by the local restoration group from 1pm for one hour. Additional dates and times during the week are available on the Heritage Week website.
