Jack and Jill walking fundraiser
A nationwide sponsored walking campaign for September aims to raise €100,000 for the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation, writes Brian Byrne. Achieving this target would fund 5,556 hours of in-home nursing care.
Broadcaster Dr Ciara Kelly launched the Walk 100km This September initiative earlier this week. Every €18 raised provides one hour of essential home nursing care for children with severe learning disabilities, often linked to complex medical needs.
In Kildare alone, 35 families are receiving support from the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, with 188 families benefiting since the charity was founded in 1997.
Life Pharmacy, part of the Uniphar Group, sponsors the initiative, and individuals and groups can sign up at any Kildare branch.
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation has supported over 3,100 families nationwide and currently cares for 451 families.
