Tidy Towns medals a 'credit to years of work'

Silver and bronze medals won by Kilcullen in the past two years of the Supervalu Tidy Towns competition are a credit to the hard work and the legacy of effort built up over many years, writes Brian Byrne. That was emphasised last night by Kilcullen Community Action chair Ann Cashman at a celebratory get-together of Tidy Towns volunteers and workers.
"The medals are a very significant achievement," she said. "Lots of people who went before put down the foundations for this, but I think the work of the last few years has been amazing." She specifically singled out the work put in each year by Noel Clare into preparing the Tidy Towns application. "Without him, we wouldn't be entered in the competition."
On behalf of all present, Ann also thanked Fallons for providing a congratulatory cake and sponsoring the food for last night's event.
It is planned that the medals will be put on display in the Kilcullen Heritage Centre.
