Councillor says 'scourge' of illegal dumping must be called out
An appeal for information on illegal dumping in the Kilcullen area has been made by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, writes Brian Byrne. This follows recent instances of the dumping of domestic waste in McGarry's Lane and Old Kilcullen.
"These locations have been repeatedly targeted over the past few weeks, and I would ask if anyone sees anything, please let me know, and the Council will follow up on illegal dumping," the councillor says, describing the practice as a 'scourge'.
"People who think it’s OK to dump anywhere have no regard for anything, but to dump at a graveyard is the height of disrespect — these people are a disgrace and need to be called out."
She was particularly referencing the recent dumping of ten bags of domestic waste at the entrance to St Brigid's Cemetery on McGarry's Lane. Five more bags were found in a ditch at McGarry's Lane Upper, in this latest instance.
