New Kildare libraries plan launched
Enhanced digital services, reaching out to new communities and young people, and initiatives to enhance content and celebrate heritage and culture are all part of the new Kildare Library Development Plan, writes Brian Byrne. The document was launched yesterday.
Building for Tomorrow is described as a 'visionary roadmap' for the future of library services in the county and will run from 2025 through 2029. The strategies were developed through local public consultation and national library guidelines.
The vision sees libraries as community hubs rather than just places to borrow books. The plan was launched by the Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, Cllr Kevin Duffy, who said it would improve access, visibility, and the quality of public libraries as essential community services.
