Beware of scammers' holiday deals

Kildare Credit Union is warning people to be aware of a seasonal rise in scams related to last-minute travel deals, writes Brian Byrne. They recommend using the Fraud Smart scamchecker.ie tool to verify the legitimacy of a website before booking anything on it.

Fraudsters are touting 'recent cancellations' or ‘limited-time offers' at so-called discounted prices on what are often highly convincing fake websites.

Online adverts and social media are favoured ways of reeling in victims.
