In the very early days of developing television technology, a wide range of names were suggested for the concept, including Radiovision, Seeing by Wireless, Distant Electric Vision, The Electric Telescope, Visual Listening, Telephonoscope, Audiovision, The Radio Kinema, Optiphone, and Mirascope. The word television — from the Greek tele, meaning “far,” and the Latin visio, meaning “vision” — was actually coined at the 1900 Paris Exposition, a quarter of a century before the first demonstrations of the system in the mid-1920s by John Logie Baird.

Lots of energy at TMH Community Games

Two Mile House Community Games held their first official Athletics event last Sunday, 18 May at the village's GAA grounds, writes Brian Byrne. The official opening of the event was carried out by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer.

In the glorious sunshine of the day there was a big turnout of children, great energy, and lots of medals.
