Generous support for GAA Darkness Into Light

Over one hundred people gathered at Kilcullen GAA at 4.15 am today to walk from Darkness into Light for Pieta House, in unity with thousands of people all over the country, and indeed the world, writes Esther Reddy. Kilcullen’s event was organised by the Healthy Clubs Committee of the GAA.
As everyone was beginning the 5km walk, Bróna Dooley encouraged everyone to take a battery tea light and to perhaps leave them on the steps at the end of the walk, “to remember those we have lost and those who are suffering“.
Dawn broke gently as the birds sang and people walked and chatted around the GAA track. The Healthy Clubs Committee (Emma Kenny, Aisling Dooley, Maurice O’Brien and Bróna Dooley) with plenty of willing helpers, provided tea and coffee at the end of the walk and Maurice O’Brien cooked up very welcome sausage baps, making sure no one went away hungry.
Thanks to the generosity of the participants, over €1,000 was raised for Pieta House and we look forward to many more Dawn Walks in Kilcullen in the years to come.
